Martin Gostwick

martin-gostwickI am a writer, a former award-winning journalist on Highland newspapers, later the manager of the Hugh Miller Birthplace Cottage and Museum in Cromarty, for which I have written the guidebook and a lot of interpretation material, as well as two books on Miller.

I founded the museum support charity, The Friends of Hugh Miller, in 2006, and am its Secretary. It has over 100 members. I edit its newsletter and website, www.thefriendsofhughmiller.org.uk . The charity is a lead partner with RSGS in the Betsey replica voyage. On this voyage, I will seek to promote knowledge and appreciation of Miller as geologist, social historian and writer, and improve my own understanding of his work. I also hope to build working relationships with professionals in Miller’s disciplines, and with local communities and young people.
